When we’re not working with customers at our Kerrisdale optical store, we’re usually enjoying a bite to eat. After all, there are some amazing Kerrisdale restaurants. Whether you’re craving sushi or souvlaki, you can find what you’re looking for. Here’s a round up of our favorite places to eat in Kerrisdale:
2081 W. 42nd Ave – This small, tucked away Japanese spot serves tasty, authentic food and is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Vancouver. The sushi and sashimi are super fresh. There can be a wait but it’s worth it! Be sure to try the unagi battera. It’s tender, flavorful and comes pressed Osaka-style.
2411 41st Ave W. – This family run restaurant offers a unique combination of pizza, steak, pasta dishes and traditional Greek food. It’s been operating in Kerrisdale since 1975 and has remained popular for good reason: delicious food! It’s hard to pick a favorite dish but you can’t go wrong with the lamb souvlaki or the pizza with artichoke hearts, red peppers and sun-dried tomatoes.
5405 West Boulevard – Yup. Another Kerrisdale Japanese restaurant. We can’t help that our neighborhood has incredible sushi! The food at this hidden gem is fresh, creative and mouthwatering. It also doesn’t hurt that the staff is extremely friendly. We highly recommend the toro nigiri and the negitoro maki.
This is Mediterranean food at its best. You’ll find healthy, fresh fare and even lots of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is easygoing and cozy. Start with the hummus or the tzatziki and then enjoy the falafel.
5559 West Blvd – More than just tea and snacks, this place is an experience. Who doesn’t want to indulge in high tea in Kerrisdale? While the Secret Garden Tea Company does have a scrumptious breakfast and lunch menu, teatime is where it’s at. You can enjoy a piping hot pot of tea with a collection of sweet and savory bites (mmm egg pinwheels). They even offer gluten free and vegetarian high tea packages. Sip on their best seller: the creamy earl grey.
2436 W. 41st Ave – This charming Chinese restaurant is perfect for dining in or taking out. Lok’s is known for its homey flavors and authentic Cantonese dishes. Order one of the congee dishes or the barbecue duck.
5395 West Blvd – This trendy pizzeria is a neighborhood favorite. The owners, restaurateurs, James Iranzad and Josh Pape, the pair behind acclaimed restaurant Wildebeest, are dedicated to locally sourced, fresh ingredients. In addition to their incredible Napolitana-style pizzas made from scratch, they also offer small plates, cocktails, craft beers, wines, coffees and desserts. The kale Caesar salad and Funghi pizza are among the menu’s highlights.
5701 Granville Street, Suite 103 – This delightful little Japanese café has a diverse menu ranging from sandwiches and typical breakfast items (the banana chocolate waffle is delicious) to sushi and Japanese dishes. It’s a unique addition to the Kerrisdale dining scene. Our favorites include the omelette rice and beef udon.
6019 West Blvd – Sit down and enjoy a soup, sandwich or salad or take home one of the ready-made meals, which are prepared fresh daily, that you can reheat and chow down on later. Doing the grown-up thing and hosting a dinner party? Stock Up has family size, oven-ready, to-go portions. We highly recommend taking advantage of the weekend brunch menu. Try the Tuscan Benny.
2032 W. 41st Ave – Technically sweet e’s isn’t a restaurant, but in our book dessert can count as a meal and no one does treats better than sweet e’s. This chic bakery is playful, fresh and fun. They offer an array of pastries, cakes and confections. Order an entire cake or indulge in bite-sized single-serve delights. You cannot miss the lemon meringue tart, flourless chocolate cake (it’s gluten free) or miniature baked cheesecakes.
