Working as a Kerrisdale eyewear specialist at the Spectacle Shoppe has given me the opportunity to get to know my fellow local retailers. It’s the probably the product of being a Mr. Roger’s fan as a small tot but when I stroll around this beautiful community the “Won’t you be my neighbour?” theme song pops into my head. It seems appropriate though considering I’ve developed relationships with so many of the wonderful shopkeepers and clerks in the area. So here’s an introduction to some of our favorite destinations for Kerrisdale shopping:

2125 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – This clothing store always has great displays and the hottest styles. They carry everything from Rag & Bone to classic brands like Pendleton for men and women.
2141 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – Buchan’s has awesome cards, I mean hands down the best cards around. They also have some fun kids’ stuff in the back of the store and if you’re into colouring books it’s the place to go.
2104 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – It brings me great joy to walk into Benton Brothers and have them ask me if I want “the usual.” The Kerrisdale store has the most amazing cheese (and accompaniments) and Peter and Sam give awesome recommendations. Did you know they’ll even let you taste your top picks to help you narrow down your choice? How’s that for service?
2150 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – I shop at Blake & Riley frequently because they have the cutest and hippest kids clothing and accessories as well as some unique home décor items.
2156 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – Faubourg has the best croissants in town. Opt for the chocolate if you’re feeling decadent or get the plain if you go here more often than you’d like to admit.
2174 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – Sarah and Rob are exceptional and I always make sure to visit this COBS location when Sarah is working because she always has a kind word. They make sure I get the best-looking scones so my kids will eat them. The fresh bread at COBS is a must try too.
2184 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – These ladies offer so many cool, of-the-moment clothing options. From sassy tees and sweaters to laidback maxi dresses, they even sell some local brands. I like to pick up the occasional piece and pop in to see what’s hot.
5591 West Blvd, Vancouver, BC – Tracy and Eugene are fantastic pharmacists (well, everyone I’ve met there is actually) and the store itself carries pretty much everything you could need as far as healthcare products including vitamins and supplements and even alternative therapies.
2128 West 41st Ave, Vancouver, BC – Are you noticing a trend here? What can I say? Kerrisdale bakeries are excellent. Moore’s has been in business for over 80 years and while you can’t go wrong with any of their handmade baked goods, their iced cookies are the best. My kids ask for them to be added to their school lunches.
5303 West Blvd, Vancouver, BC – Not only do they have a huge selection of wine, beer and liquor, including local options, the manager Ben and the rest of the staff at West Coast Liquor really know their stuff if you’re in need of a recommendation.
