Our Favourite Vancouver Kids Stores

Summer fun will soon be giving way to the back-to-school rush. With two kids, that means I’ll be doing some shopping so their backpacks are well stocked, they have fresh shoes and clothes to kick off the school year and, of course, we all know, a few toys will make their way into the mix. There are so many Vancouver kids stores that narrowing them down is the challenge. Well, I’ve done the work for you based on my own experience as a mom and what I’ve heard from other parents who visit our Kerrisdale eyewear store.

A Fun Look at Vancouver Neighbourhoods and their Matching Glasses

I adore Vancouver. You get the benefits of urban living with access to the great outdoors and breathtaking scenery. There’s really nowhere else like it in the world. It’s an amazingly diverse city that seamlessly blends so many different cultures. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Vancouverites from all walks of life while working at our Vancouver glasses and eyewear store in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood. While I have to say, the people who frequent the Spectacle Shoppe are all unique and many of the Vancouver stereotypes just aren’t true. However, I thought I’d have a little fun by breaking down some Vancouver personality types and matching them with their ideal glasses.

7 of the Best Kids See for the First Time Videos

I think pretty much everyone has had a video pop up on their Facebook feed where a baby sees mom clearly for the first time and I have to admit, they melt my heart. At the Spectacle Shoppe, we really pride ourselves on helping our Kerrisdale glasses customers have crisp, clear vision (while looking great too, of course!). Why You Need Crizal Coating on Your Sunglasses

Now that those rainy Vancouver days will soon be giving way to the warmth and sunshine of late spring and summer, it’s the perfect time to splurge on some new shades. While a good number of our Kerrisdale eyewear customers at the Spectacle Shoppe wear prescription sunglasses, even those that are using them solely to keep the sun out of their eyes or show off their style will want to invest in a quality pair.

The Ultimate Guide to Glasses & Optical Vocabulary

When customers visit our Kerrisdale eyewear store for a new pair of glasses or contact lenses, we always make sure to explain everything and try not to swamp them with too much optical industry jargon. After all, not everyone spends their free time kicking back with the latest issue of 20/20 Magazine.

The Most Dramatic Celebrity Glasses Take Offs

There can be something so dramatic about removing your glasses. Okay, maybe not in real life, but it definitely brings the drama when it happens in a movie or on television. Celebrity glasses wearers, or at least their characters, tend to be able to really make a statement when they slowly inch their spectacles or shades down their nose to glare at someone, or haphazardly rip them off in shock or, in some cases, put them on and deliver that killer one-liner (we’re looking at you, Detective Horatio Caine).
